How much does an asbestos garage roof cost to remove and replace?
These are guide ranges that UK removal and roofing firms commonly publish, not a quote from us. Your price depends on the size, condition and access, and is only firm once the roof has been tested and the job inspected.
Typical guide ranges
Removal and disposal only, single garage (about 15 to 20 square metres): often £600 to £1,000. Double garage (about 25 to 35 square metres): often £1,000 to £1,600.
Removal plus a new steel roof, single garage: often £2,000 to £3,500. Double garage: often £3,400 to £4,800. Some firms quote less where removal is included in the roof price.
What moves the price
Size is the biggest factor, followed by access (is there a drive, or does everything carry through the house?), the condition of the sheets and timbers, whether the sheets can be lifted off whole, and the roof you choose. Insulation, new fascias and guttering add cost. Broken or crumbling sheets add specialist handling.
Getting a fair quote
Ask for the price in writing, ask where the waste is going and what paperwork you will receive, ask what is included for the new roof (sheets, fixings, flashings, fascias) and ask whether timber repairs are priced or extra. A very cheap removal-only quote with no waste paperwork is a warning sign.
